Sorry, William Morris was associated with the Arts and Crafts style in England (late 19th c.) The example below was inspired by medieval furniture design, which was of interest to him because he thought the medieval guild system of craftsmanship gave more dignity to the worker than did the industrial production system of his day. He sought to revive standards of craftsmanship, but often his ideas were so elaborate (as in this example) that his other goal of providing simple, affordable goods for the middle class were lost. American Arts and Crafts styles did better at this practical goal, and were simpler in line.
