baroque textile design
•Around the turn of the century a very unusual series
of designs were created at Lyon, known as
Bizarre Silks
•The
designs are believe to be derived from a mixture
of Islamic, Indian and Chinese motifs
•It has also been suggested that they were created
for the Ottoman market
•They were used as furnishing and as dress fabrics
in France
